A Suite Ride Through Portland

In one day, A Suite Ride through Portland will present all six of J.S. Bach’s Cello Suites in different locations throughout greater Portland. Free, open, and in unconventional public spaces, some audience may attend all six experiences while others may discover the art by chance. Locations include the Eastern Prom, Deering Oaks Park, Casco Bay Lines Ferry Terminal, The Longfellow Garden, Congress Square Park, and Monument Square. 

Saturday, June 16 |  9am — 6pm

Yoga on the Eastern Prom - 9 am
Suite No. 1 with silently led yoga. Yogis and observers welcome. 

Deering Oaks Park - 10 am
Children are encouraged to hear Suite No. 2 as inspiration for dance or narrative play. 
Join us to build a ribbon wand or design a mask before the music starts. 

Casco Bay Island Ferry Terminal - 12 pm
Listen to Suite No. 3 under the awning of Portland’s ferry terminal.

The Longfellow Garden - 1 pm
Suite No. 4 is played in this oasis at Maine Historical Society. 

Congress Square Park - 4 pm  
Listen, dance, or dream along to Suite No. 5.

Monument Square Park - 5 pm  
Join us for “Bachsicals” and Suite No. 6 - a perfect end to the day.
