Jack Burt

Dr. Jack Burt has served as Professor of Trumpet at the University of Maine School of Performing Arts since 2004. He teaches the trumpet studio and classes in Music History. He taught previously at Texas A&M University-Kingsville from 1992 to 2004. He is a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Texas, and has held principal trumpet positions in Mexico and Texas.

Jack has presented masterclasses and recitals throughout the US and Europe and also writes articles and interviews for the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Journal and the Brass Herald magazine.

He is a member of the European Brass Ensemble, based in Austria, which tours Europe regularly. Jack is the sole American in a group of 45 musicians from over 15 countries. The EBE has released two commercial CDs, entitled In Residence and Diversity, on the German classical music label, GENUIN (available on Spotify, and worldwide).

Jack's YouTube channel, which has garnered almost 700,000 views, is a site for trumpet instructional videos, as well as performances of over 300 Trumpet Etudes, recorded during the COVID pandemic. It was featured recently on the Maine TV News Magazine "207".
