Janet Youngdahl
Janet Youngdahl is active as a soprano, academic and choral conductor. Her current research is a project devoted to building strong connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous singers. Her work with Cecilia’s Circle has focused on the music of Barbara Strozzi and Elizabet Jacquet de la Guerre. Youngdahl has toured with the ensemble for medieval music Sequentia throughout Europe and North America. Her work as a specialist in the chant of Hildegard von Bingen has fostered invitations to offer lectures and workshops with the University of Toronto, The University of Calgary, Dalhousie University, McGill University, The University of California and the American Academy in Rome. As a soprano, Youngdahl appears on recordings with Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, BMG, Phillips, RCA, Toccata Classics, Centaur and BIS record labels. Youngdahl is a Music Professor at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada.
