Jonas Rimkunas
Tenor Jonas Rimkunas is a Performance major at The University of Southern Maine who just finished his junior year. He recently performed the role of Tamino in USM's production of Mozart's The Magic Flute and was named one of the winners of USM's Honor's Competition. He traveled to Vietnam in summer 2019 and sang with the award winning Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Nicolàs Dosman. Jonas got his start singing with The Boys Singers of Maine in the early 2000s, and participated in multiple select choruses and ensembles throughout highschool. As an adult he studied a variety of vocations including wooden boat building and carpentry, both of which he still practices today. In 2015, after four years of music being almost absent in his life, his interest was rekindled after joining a barbershop quartet. Following the success of this award-winning quartet, he applied to USM and started on his path of classical singing. He currently studies with Scott Wheatley, and is looking forward to many more opportunities to practice his craft.
