Julia McKenzie

Violinist Julia McKenzie performs on historical and modern violins in a wide range of musical styles. She specializes in period performance with Boston Baroque, the Handel & Haydn Society, Les Bostonades, and The Bach Project of Ashmont Hill Chamber Music. She has also appeared with Exsultemus, Musica Sacra, The Berry Collective, Canto Armonico, the Rochester Vermont Chamber Music Society, the American Baroque Orchestra, Newton Baroque, the Society for Historically Informed Performance, Music at Eden's Edge, and regularly appears on the the King's Chapel Concert Series. Other musical adventures have included appearances in numerous international music festivals, performing with the multimedia group Melodic Vision, dabbling in jazz, blues & rock with area bands, and serving as an instrument consultant for Carriage House Violins. Committed to bringing music to underserved audiences, she is a member of Shelter Music Boston and co-director of Eudaimonia: A Purposeful Period Band. Also a dedicated teacher, Julia presents period instrument demonstrations and master classes, and participates in outreach programs such as Boston Baroque's Classics for Kids and the Handel & Haydn Society's Collaborative Youth Concerts. She is on the faculty of the All Newton Music School and the Prep School of her alma mater, the New England Conservatory.
