Michael Unterman
Michael Unterman enjoys an active and varied performing career. Currently serving as principal cellist of Boston Baroque, he also performs frequently with groups such as the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra, Handel and Haydn Society, Trinity Baroque Orchestra, and the Portland Baroque Orchestra. On modern cello he is a core member of the string chamber orchestra A Far Cry, and performs as a guest with The Knights and at the Birdfoot Festival in New Orleans.
Michael graduated from Juilliard’s Historical Performance program where he studied with Phoebe Carrai. Prior to that, he earned bachelors and masters degrees at the New England Conservatory, studying with Laurence Lesser and Natasha Brofsky, and was a Fulbright scholar in Barcelona, Spain, where he studied with Lluís Claret.
