Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B Minor was completed in the last year of his life and likely not performed in its entirety until over 100 years later. In this lengthy (over two hours) and intricate piece, Bach “steals” from himself, reinventing musical ideas found in his previous works, making it a great piece to explore in depth to better understand both the master and the Catholic mass format utilized by so many composers. Join us for a multimedia review by Artistic Director Emily Isaacson to dig into this masterwork of the Baroque period.
